NATASHA BERTRAND at The Atlantic has a story up where they have released a DM tweet exchange from Stone and Assange. The Atlantic has a very nice timeline of Stone’s actions during the campaign.

On March 17, 2017, WikiLeaks tweeted that it had never communicated with Roger Stone, a longtime confidante and informal adviser to President Donald Trump. In his interview with the House Intelligence Committee last September, Stone, who testified under oath, told lawmakers that he had communicated with WikiLeaks via an “intermediary,” whom he identified only as a “journalist.”

private Twitter messages obtained by The Atlantic show that Stone and WikiLeaks, a radical-transparency group, communicated directly on October 13, 2016—and that WikiLeaks sought to keep its channel to Stone open after Trump won the election. The existence of the secret correspondence marks yet another strange twist in the White House’s rapidly swelling Russia scandal.

“I have never said or written that I had any direct communication with Julian Assange and have always clarified in numerous interviews and speeches that my communication with WikiLeaks was through the aforementioned journalist,” Stone told the committee in his prepared statement in September.

At least one lawmaker had already obtained a screenshot of the exchange before Stone testified, according to two sources familiar with the matter who requested anonymity to discuss the ongoing investigation.

Democrats have asked GOP members to subpoena Twitter for the private messages of Trump associates currently under investigation in the Russia probe, according to one of the sources familiar with the internal proceedings. But the majority has so far refused.

So Stone lied to a congressional committee, presumably under oath, which is a crime, and the Republicans on the committee do nothing about it. The purpose of this committee is not to investigate those who attacked our elections, but rather to protect them.
I have a feeling this BS cover-up by the Republicans is going to come back to haunt them. If we help Democrats win back one or both houses of congress, we’re going to see some real investigations. Most of you probably were not around during the Watergate investigation when the Democrats in the Senate and house held PUBLIC hearings! It made for absolutely amazing TV and for a public that is hooked on reality TV, next year is going to be amazing and every one of these bastards who got away with lying to the fascists running these fake investigations will be back and will get drilled in front of an audience of millions.
RESIST!

„And high up above my eyes could clearly see The Statue of Liberty Sailing away to sea“ Deep look into History of „The Statue of Liberty“

„And high up above my eyes could clearly see
The Statue of Liberty
Sailing away to sea“
Paul Simon

The Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World; French: La Liberté éclairant le monde) is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor in New York City, in the United States. The copper statue, a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States, was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and built by Gustave Eiffel. The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886.
The Statue of Liberty is a figure of a robed woman representing Libertas, a Roman liberty goddess. She holds a torch above her head with her right hand, and in her left hand carries a tabula ansata inscribed in Roman numerals with „JULY IV MDCCLXXVI“ (July 4, 1776), the date of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. A broken chain lies at her feet. The statue became an icon of freedom and of the United States, and was a welcoming sight to immigrants arriving from abroad.
Bartholdi was inspired by a French law professor and politician, Édouard René de Laboulaye, who is said to have commented in 1865 that any monument raised to U.S. independence would properly be a joint project of the French and American peoples. Because of the post-war instability in France, work on the statue did not commence until the early 1870s. In 1875, Laboulaye proposed that the French finance the statue and the U.S. provide the site and build the pedestal. Bartholdi completed the head and the torch-bearing arm before the statue was fully designed, and these pieces were exhibited for publicity at international expositions.

As well as the Roman Libertas, Sol Invictus („Unconquered Sun“) also influenced the Statue of Liberty (3rd century disc found at Pessinus – British Museum).

Western Lies about Lies over Syria’s East Ghouta

Western Lies about Lies over Syria’s East Ghouta
By Finian Cunningham
February 24, 2018 „Information Clearing House“ – Western governments, their corporate news media, and even the United Nations’ chief Antonio Guterres are once again playing a disgusting, emotive propaganda game over the Syrian war.
UN Secretary General Guterres told the Security Council this week that the East Ghouta enclave near the capital Damascus was “hell on Earth” and called for an immediate ceasefire. His ceasefire call was echoed by French President Emmanuel Macron.
Where is Guterres’ public concern about “hellish conditions” elsewhere? In Gaza where more than a million people are starving under a years-long blockade by a US-backed Israeli regime – in violation of countless UN resolutions? Where is Guterres’ legal or moral authority for Palestinians?
Or for Raqqa, the Syrian city razed to the ground by US air strikes? Or for Iraq’s Mosul, likewise obliterated along with thousands of civilians by US air strikes? Or for Sanaa, the Yemeni capital being bombarded by American-supplied Saudi warplanes?
We don’t recall seeing the UN chief pointedly addressing the Security Council about those situations, and dramatically invoking “hell on Earth”…. Source: Western Lies about Lies over Syria’s East Ghouta

Syria – The UNSC Mandated Ceasefire Will Not Hold

Syria – The UNSC Mandated Ceasefire Will Not Hold
By Moon Of Alabama
February 25, 2018 „Information Clearing House“ – Last night the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 2401 demanding a 30 day ceasefire in all of Syria. The text of the adopted resolution does not seem to be available yet. A copy of the original draft resolution is here. The Russian government had offered several amendments to it. It demanded that the U.S. side guarantees that the enemies of the Syrian state would stick to such a ceasefire.
The resolution was initiated by Sweden and Kuwait on behalf of the U.S. It follows after preparation by the Syrian army to liberate the east-Ghouta area next to the capital Damascus had reached a critical point. East-Ghouta is occupied by several terrorist groups including al-Qaeda and militant Salafist groups. Together they have for years been sponsored to harass the 7 million inhabitants of the capital with random mortar and missile attacks. The U.S. initiated a propaganda campaign to „save Ghouta“ because it wants to keep the threat from Ghouta towards the Syrian capital alive.

bigger
The ceasefire does not apply to Al-Qaeda, ISIS and associated terrorist groups. The war against them will continue. In east-Ghouta al-Qaeda (HTS) is allied with Failaq al-Rahman.

bigger
The UN resolution is said to allow for the liberation of some significant areas of east-Ghouta including Harasta, Arbin, Zamalka, Ein Tarma and Kafar Batna. The Syrian Arab Army ground attack to liberate these and other parts of east-Ghouta began today, only hours after the resolution was adopted. It is already making good progress.
The huge propaganda campaign about east-Ghouta is certainly not over humanitarian concern or over adherence to some legal rules of war. Last year the U.S. destroyed Raqqa with more than 31,000 artillery rounds and a large air campaign and killed more than 3,200 civilians. It even destroyed the water pipeline to Raqqa that supplied the inhabitants of the city – a clear war crime. Back then the UN requested a ceasefire to evacuate civilians. The U.S. rejected that out of hand. It latter let the remaining Islamic State fighters escape from Raqqa and is now retraining them for further attacks on the Syrian state.

The campaigns around Ghouta are part of “cold” war between the USA and Russia which is dividing Syria. The current U.S. campaign to keep east-Ghouta under terrorist is in support of four goals:
to demonstrate to the word that the Syrian government is unable to keep Damascus safe
to show that Russia was wrong in claiming victory in Syria
to protect ISIS and al-Qaeda as they are still needed as U.S. proxy foot-soldiers
the justify the U.S. occupation of north-east Syria and its oil fields and to thus limit the financial resources of the Syrian state. (This also gives the U.S. and Israel an operational area for further attacks on the Syrian state.)
One interesting aspect of the UNSC ordered ceasefire is its application to the Turkish invasion of the Kurdish held Afrin area in north-west Syria. The Kurdish YPG, which is defending Afrin against the Turkish onslaught, is not an internationally recognized terrorist group. Thus Turkey is now under pressure to stop or end its campaign.
U.S. President Trump has again confused his private position with that of the ruling administration:
President Donald Trump appeared to contradict his own State Department during a press conference on Friday by saying that the US is in Syria to defeat ISIS and then leave. In January, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson outlined five goals for the US in Syria — to defeat ISIS and al-Qaida, resolve the conflict between the Syrian regime and people, to curb Iranian influence, to create conditions so that refugees can safely return, and to create a Syria free of weapons of mass destruction. Tillerson also said that the US seeks to resolve the conflict between the Syrian regime and people. The Trump administration also decided this week that it could continue to maintain US troops in Syria indefinitely, even in areas where ISIS fighters have been cleared, without new Congressional authorization.
The is no basis in international law for a U.S. occupation of parts of Syria. The reasoning with which the administration tries to justify its military presence in Syria is laughable:
[It] said that the continued potential threat from the Islamic State provided a legal rationale for the Trump administration to keep American troops deployed there indefinitely.
A „preventive“ military presence in a foreign country because some terrorist group might evolve there could be used to occupy any piece of land on this planet. This is evidently bullshit but it is currently unlikely that Congress will get involved and stop this criminal behavior.
The UNSC mandated ceasefire will fail. The various groups in east-Ghouta are disunited but have a common interest in keeping the war going. It is their sole source of income and purpose. They will continue to harass Damascus which will then justify more attacks on them.
The U.S. campaign to „save Ghouta“ will thus go down in the same way the earlier campaign to „save Aleppo“ has failed. The Syrian government will liberate and secure the area by the appropriate means and with the least possible casualties and damage.
The U.S. will then move its propaganda campaign to some other area and will continue to use dirty tricks, but not an open battle, to prolong the war on Syria and to pursue its unrealistic aims.

‚Orgies While People Are Dying‘: How Charity Oxfam Allowed Sex Abuse in Ailing Countries Like Haiti @alternet

Staff hired prostitutes at aid sites and tried to cover it up. Oxfam has been hit with dozens more misconduct allegations in the days since The Times of London revealed Oxfam tried to cover up sex crimes by senior aid workers in Haiti after the devastating 2010 earthquake. On Tuesday, Oxfam’s leadership was questioned by British lawmakers, and apologized for its failure to report sexual misconduct to Haitian authorities. Prostitution is illegal in Haiti, but Oxfam refused to report the activity of its aid workers to Haitian police. Haiti has threatened to expel Oxfam from the country over the scandal.::::

allegations that were investigated and that he admitted to were that he was having sex with native women, paying them for sex.
And I’ve seen the transcript of his interview with the Oxfam investigation. And he admits in there that he had what he calls prostitutes visit him on two or three occasions at his home, which was, I believe, quite a luxurious villa known as the Eagle’s Nest, where he lived alone, surrounded by security guards. You know, he could live a very private and secluded life there. But he also talks, in that interview with the investigators, about young mothers coming to him and visiting him, and he’s giving them baby milk, diapers, goods—you know, basically essentials that they are living on—and implies that he’s doing that in return for sexual favors. And one of my colleagues is in Haiti at the moment, has been reporting from Haiti and has tracked down and interviewed one of the young women who slept with Van Hauwermeiren, who said, yes, he did trade aid for sex with her, and that she was very young at the time, 16, 17, and that although she now looks back on it, you know, with some distaste, she felt at the time it was saving her life and saving her baby’s life. So, hugely exploitative conduct on his part.
But quite separate from that, there was a group of aid workers who were staying in an apartment block, who—just a group of men, an all-male apartment block. And the allegations against them were that they were bringing in prostitutes, or their Haitian drivers were being sent out at night to bring in prostitutes, supplied by a local pimp, and that those women were being subjected to some pretty degrading treatment. A number of those men, I believe, were found guilty of gross misconduct. A number resigned will under investigation. A number were accused but were kind of acquitted. But we’re talking about, you know, an investigation that was essentially carried out by an Oxfam anti-fraud team, not by experienced law enforcement investigators or people experienced in sexual crimes. So, a lot of those people were subsequently dismissed for lesser matters, such as the bullying and intimidation of witnesses or, in one case, downloading pornography onto an Oxfam computer. So, there were a range of offenses, but the common thread running through all of them was some pretty nasty sexual exploitation of local women who were, you know, in desperate need after an earthquake that caused massive devastation in Haiti.
AMY GOODMAN: Well, on Monday, Oxfam released an internal investigation into the allegations of sexual misconduct that showed Oxfam’s country director in Haiti, Roland Van Hauwermeiren, admitted to using prostitutes in his residence during a humanitarian aid operation before his resignation in 2011. I mean, it’s amazing what you just pointed out, that he was fired from another charity years before and Oxfam then picked him up, not clear what they knew. Well, last week, Van Hauwermeiren dismissed the allegations of sexual misconduct.
ROLAND VAN HAUWERMEIREN: [translated] I don’t feel good about the people who, of course, are told, by perhaps less professional journalists, that Oxfam is an instrument to have sex orgies using the money from good civilians. That is absolutely not true.
AMY GOODMAN: So, again, that’s Roland Van Hauwermeiren. Sean O’Neill?
SEAN O’NEILL: He’s entitled to his say, but I’m very confident in my sources, both the human sources I’ve spoken to, who were there at the time, who know exactly what went on in that investigation, and very confident of the documents that we obtained, some of which are, you know, a transcript of his words.
AMY GOODMAN: We’re going to come back to this discussion. We’re talking to Sean O’Neill, who’s the chief reporter at The Times of London on this piece, this series of pieces, that is blowing open this scandal around Oxfam, as Oxfam tries to contain the damage. In addition, we’ll be joined by the Haitian-American writer Edwidge Danticat and Taina Bien-Aimé, who is the head of the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women. Stay with us.

These 5 States Have Seen the Most Rapid Increases in Homelessness Over the Past Decade @alternet

There’s one primary reason why homelessness is on the rise in these areas. Homelessness increased in the U.S. in 2017 for the first time since 2010, and advocates for homeless people are alarmed. Ten city and county governments have declared states of emergency since 2015 in response; meanwhile, Department of Housing and Urban Development head Ben Carson shows ongoing disinterest in supporting local governments’ efforts.

……https://www.bild.de/regional/ruhrgebiet/essen/tafel-chef-droht-mit-schliessung-54929298.bild.html
